2024 Milfoil Removal Report

The 2024 Eurasian milfoil removal report for Deer Lake is in. There was a bit more milfoil this year than last — especially in the September survey, after a warm stretch — but the lake remains very manageable. Most of the shoreline is turning up only scattered single plants, and the problem spots are being knocked back with targeted treatment.

Divers swim-surveyed and cleaned the entire shoreline twice — in late July and again about two weeks after Labor Day — and walked the docks at Haney's Bay, Tamarack, Cedar Bay, and Pine Bay, where boat-pulling isn't possible. This was the third year of full swim surveys, and the program will continue on that basis. A patch of about 50′ × 100′ on the west side of the narrows was marked for treatment.
